Junta troops torch Dawei’s Thingandon village

The military column that entered Thingandon village in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei Township and burned and destroyed local homes, locals and resistance forces told Than Lwin Times.

The 150-strong junta forces entered Thingandon village from Yewaing village in the early morning of May 31, firing large and small weapons and destroying homes.

Locals claim that at least five homes were initially set on fire by the regime forces, although it is still unclear exactly how many homes were destroyed.

A member of the local defense force said that one PDF comrade was killed, two others were injured, and two firearms were lost in the shootout between the junta army and the PDF scout team.

The junta artillery shelling has seriously injured a woman and her daughter from Thingandon, and they were stopped by the regime forces at the Byaw Taw Wa gate while going to Dawei Hospital for treatment.

When the regime troops, which burned down Thingandon, arrested two local people, U Tun Win and Ko Naing, while entering the village.

The invasion of regime forces has forced all the villagers of Thingandon to flee to safety, said the locals.
