Junta files lawsuit against father of Dawei Strike leader

Launglon, 15 August

Military council has detained and filed a lawsuit against the father of Ko Min Lwin Oo, the head of the Dawei Strike Committee in Pyin Htein Village, Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Region.

On June 19, the regime troops came in search of strike leader Min Lwin Oo, and when they did not find him, they beat and arrested his father, U Aung Pe.

On August 12, the military council opened a case against Ko Min Lwin Oo’s father under Section 505(a) of the Penal Code on the grounds that they found an armband and a shirt with the Students’ Union logo at his home.

On 13 August, 61-year-old U Aung Pe, who was detained at the Launglon police station, was allowed to meet his family members, and it is reported that he is in good health.

Ko Min Lwin Oo did not comment on the military council’s actions, which are causing harm to family members who are unrelated to the revolution, and told Than Lwin Times that he will continue to fight until the end of the dictatorship in a nonviolent manner.

When the regime forces came to arrest Ko Min Lwin Oo’s father as a hostage, they forcibly took two mobile phones, K 800,000, and some items from his home.

The junta has issued a warrant for Ko Min Lwin Oo, who is conducting non-violent activities against the military dictatorship in Dawei District, on charges of sedition, and announced that a reward of 30 million Kyats will be offered to those who arrest him.
