Five junta soldiers reportedly injured or killed in convoy attack in Kyaikto

A military convoy was ambushed on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway near Thayetkon village in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township around 10 a.m. on 15 August, the spokesperson of Thaton District PDF, Ko Aye Min Htun, told Than Lwin Times.

The combined force of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and People’s Defense Force (PDF) attacked a five-vehicle military food convoy heading to Belin from Kyaikto using heavy weapons and small arms.

Two military vehicles were damaged, and at least five military personnel in the vehicle may have been killed or injured in the ambush attack, said Ko Aye Min Tun.

According to locals, regime troops who fled after being attacked opened fire on the community along the Yangon-Mawlamyine route.

Pro-junta telegram users reported that some regime troops were injured during the ambush attack on the military convoy.

On 28 July, KNLA joint forces launched an attack on a checkpoint at the intersection of Sittaung Bridge in Moppalin village, in Kyaikto Township, with both sides were injured and killed.
