Major General Zaw Min Tun, spokesperson of Myanmar military regime, said that there is no reason to pursue political dialogue with opposition organizations.
At the 22nd press conference of the Military Council held on August 22, Major General Zaw Min Tun made this comment when asked if the military regime could use dialogue in the future.
He said, “Before the army took over the power, it openly clarified the issue of vote fraud in front of the media and the international community with full and complete evidence, and conducted a variety of approaches to be done, including a review of the voter lists and discussions, but it was not successful.
Political analyst U Than Soe Naing stated that it is apparent that the military council is preparing for talks despite being constrained politically.
The military council labeled opposition groups like the National Unity Government (NUG), the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), and the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) as terrorist organizations.
Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun said that the junta will continue to work with EAO groups to achieve internal peace, hold meetings with political parties to achieve political stability, and conduct activities to hold the next election.

According to Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun, the military council will keep collaborating with EAO organizations to bring about internal peace, engage with political parties to promote political stability, and carry out initiatives to hold the next election.
Since the military coup, the junta army has been facing the armed resistance of the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) of various names that have sprung up across the country, as well as fighting with some ethnic armed organizations.
On the other hand, the fighting between the military council and the armed forces has been going on since earlier this year, and because the junta army has failed in ground operations, it has been using air strikes and artillery shelling.
In July, after the military council used the name of public leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to move to the political arena, the armed resistance forces have expressed that it is only a system-changing revolution that will build a federal democratic union, not a change of regime.
