Magway, September (14)
More than 30 political prisoners, including Magway Region Chief Minister Dr. Aung Moe Nyo’s personal officer, have been held in solitary confinement and shackled with leg irons, the sources close to Magway prison told Than Lwin Times.
At the beginning of September, more than 30 political prisoners, including Magway Chief Minister’s personal officer, U Aung Win, and a Tutor from Yenangyaung University, were detained for 45 days on additional charges after a diary sheet was reportedly found in Magway’s Daungnay Prison.
The military council sentenced U Aung Win, the personal officer of Magway Chief Minister Dr. Aung Moe Nyo, to three years in prison in April under Section 25 of the Natural Disaster Management Law.
In addition, on June 19, political prisoners were cut off their food and water and made them howl like dogs all night for celebrating the birthday of State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
Min Lwin Oo, a regime prison officer, oppresses and tortures political prisoners while blatantly violating their human rights.
According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), 2,273 people were tortured and killed, and more than 15,000 people were incarcerated in post-coup Myanmar.
