Nay Pyi Taw, April (23)

On the 22nd of April, the coup leader Min Aung Hlaing proposed to meet with EOA leaders in person for peace negotiations.

The military leader said in a televised address on regime-run MRTV that he would like to meet with the leaders of the ethnic armed groups in person to end the armed conflict and urged them to attend the meeting with two representatives per group.

The ethnic armed groups attending the meeting must register by May 9, and the date of the negotiations will be agreed by the concerned parties, he said.

He claimed that the foundation of a Union based on democracy and federalism, which ethnic armed groups have always demanded, has been firmly secured in a speech welcoming ethnic armed leaders to peace.

The NUG and the People’s Defense Forces, on the other hand, were not invited to the peace talks.
