The three local residents of Aukyebyu village in Tanintharyi Region’s Launglon Township, were arrested by the military council on suspicion of providing money to the Peopole’s Defense Forces.
About 30 military and police officers arrived in Aukyebyu village in four vehicles and arrested three residents at around 2 am on July 26.
Among those arrested were border school owner U Nyi Maung Htwe and a couple, U Maung Maung Lwin and Daw Zar Myint, the owner of a grocery store.
According to the local residents, those three people were arrested because of a tip-off from Pyu Saw Htee member, the military-backed militia.
Family members are attempting to get in touch with the three people who were detained at Launglon police station.
At least 20 local residents, including CDM teachers, have been arrested in Launglon Township in July, and most of them have been charged under anti-terrorism laws for allegedly providing money to the People’s Defense Forces.
