Ye, 26 November

A police corporal from Khaw Zar police station in Mon State’s Ye Township took refuge in the Ye Guerilla Force (YGF) with a gun and ammunition, reported the YGF on 25 November.

Police corporal Min Naung defected to the YGF with a G3 gun, two ammo boxes, and 100 bullets, the statement said.

According to a member of the YGF, police corporal Min Naung joined the Civil Disobedient Movement (CDM) along with weapons because he did not want to continue serving under the military council.

The YGF said it will take care of food, accommodation, and security for the police corporal.

This incident is the first-time police in Ye Township laid down a weapon to the revolutionary forces during the coup.

The YGF has stated that they will welcome soldiers, police officers, and militia members seeking refuge in them and will be fully responsible for security.

The military council has beefed up security and prepared for defense in Ye after the report spread that the revolutionary group would take over Mon State’s Ye, where martial law had been declared.

According to a report issued by the National Unity Government (NUG) on October 7, nearly 14,000 soldiers and policemen joined the people’s embrace.
