The right side of a military vehicle loaded with people was hit by a landmine attack, killing five and injuring six, including a military officer, the spokesperson of the Kyaikto Revolutionary Force (KRF) told Than Lwin Times.
Some casualties have been reported as the seven-vehicle military convoy was attacked between between Mayanchaung and Ingabo villages in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township, according to resistance forces.
The joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF) attacked a junta convoy of seven vehicles heading to Bago Region’s Belin Tonwship with a landmine around 3:30 pm on December 4.
The military convoy that was attacked continued to Bago without stopping, and the soldiers fired at the surroundings while cursing along the way.
It is said that the military convoy stopped at Nyaung Khar Shae checkpoint and the dead and wounded were taken away by ambulance, but Than Lwin Times has not been able to independently confirm the report.
The joint resistance forces attacked Moppalin checkpoint using heavy weapons and drone on December 3, killing three junta soldiers.
The military council has tightened security in Mon State’s Kyaikto due to possible seizure of the town by the revolutionary forces, said sources close to the junta.
