At least five military personnel might have been killed in an attack on a patrol car near Sinphyu monastery in Theinzayat Town in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township on the night of October 30, one PDF member told Than Lwin Times.
The combined resistance forces of the KNU’s Allied Supervisory Committee (Thaton) attacked two patrol cars carrying about 20 military personnel in Theinzayat around 8 pm, October 30.
At least five soldiers and police might have been killed and one vehicle was destroyed, PDF official, Ko Aye Min Htun said.
After the attack, the resistance forces under KNU’s Allied Supervisory Committee (Thaton) were able to retreat without losses.
On October 25, a military convoy struck the landmine near General Aung San statue in Theinzayat Township, killing at least three soldiers.
There has been increasing tension between regime forces and KNLA (Karen National Liberation Army) joint forces in KNU-held Kyaikto Township, with frequent clashes.
