The four members of the regime troops were reportedly killed in a battle that occurred in Waidin village in Tainintharyi Region’s Kawthaung, said Lieutenant Monedaing, the representative from Kawthaung PDF.
A clash broke out when the joint force of Battalion 1 (Kawthaung District) and Kawthoolei Army (KTLA) attacked the regime unit that stationed at Waiding village around 11 am on February 27.
The two sides exchanged fire for a few hours, and a PDF comrade from the PDF was injured, Lieutenant Monedaing said.
Following the battle, the military council used heavy weapons to attack the surrounding villages until the morning of February 28.
The battle broke out after the junta troops marched into the PDF stronghold of Waidin village on February 21. After that, the members of the military council continued to deploy in Waidin village.
Over 1,000 people from the neighboring villages of Waidin, Pakalap, and Aung Thayar have fled into the forests in Thai border as a result of the conflict in Waidin village.
