Palaw, March (16)
Heavy losses were reported on both junta forces and the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) in the battle near Gabyar village in Tanintharyi Region’s Palaw Township, reported Myeik Battalion 1.
On March 12, the junta column invaded Gabyar village and clashed twice with a joint force of Myeik Battalion 1 and its allied force.
Three PDF comrades from Myeik District Battalion 1 and two from an allied force lost their lives, while three junta soldiers, including a military officer, were killed in the battle.
At least 400 local residents of the villages of Latpanpyin and Gabyar have escaped the conflict and are now living in shelters.
After the battle, until March 15, the military council troops had not left the villages, and their continued advance would cause military tension.
The military council troops invaded Palaw Township after the declaration of martial law, and there are daily clashes with local resistance forces, with both sides being injured or killed.
