As of June 21 of this year, 91 people had been arrested and killed in the junta interrogation centers during the military takeover, reported the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).
88 men and three women were among the 91 people tortured and died during the interrogation, the report said.
The arrest of 30 residents by the junta came after the resistance forces attacked the police station in Nyaung Khar Shae village in Bago Region’s Waw Township on April 27.
Among those arrested were U Mya Thein and Ko Kyaw Myint Thein from Kyonpar village and Daw Tin Myo Khaing, U Win Zaw Htay, and U San Shae from Phoe Sabae village, all five of whom died during interrogation.
In 2021, 45 people were killed during interrogation, 32 in 2022, and 14 this year, according to AAPP figures.
In addition, there are 157 people sentenced to death under various charges, of whom 42 were sentenced to death in absentia.
According to AAPP, the number of people killed by the regime forces during the coup has reached nearly 3,700.
