Daw Ywat Nu Aung, a lawyer for Mandalay Region Prime Minister Dr Zaw Myint Maung, has been arrested, the regime’s spokesperson General Zaw Min Tun said.
Advocate Daw Ywat Nu Aung was arrested by members of the military council at her office on the evening of April 28.
According to General Zaw Min Tun, a spokesperson for the military council, a member of the People’s Defense Force (PDF) stated that Daw Ywat Nu Aung gave financial help to his group, and as a result, the regime arrested Daw Ywat Nu Aung.
Despite reports that the military council has detained Daw Yew Nu Aung at the Chan Mya Thar Si police station in Mandalay and has charged her with terrorism under section 50 (j) of the Terrorism Act, which carries a life sentence, and section 52 (a) of the Financial Aid Act, Than Lwin Times is awaiting confirmation.
Lawyer Daw Ywat Nu Aung was handling the cases of Mandalay Region Prime Minister Dr Zaw Myint Maung, Electricity and Energy Minister U Zar Ni Aung and NLD Patron U Win Htein.
