Tanintharyi, 16 March

A family member from Myanmar military’s 561 Light Infantry Regiment based in Nyaungpinkwin village of Tanintharyi township was seriously injured on her right leg in a land mine blast planted by their troops, said the locals to Than Lwin Times.

The blast hit the 47-year-old woman, identified as Daw Aye Mu, while she was collecting cashew nuts in the military owned cashew plantation near their camp on 14 March morning, and she was taken to the military hospital in Myeik Township.

“Her (the victim’s) son-in-law was from the 561 Light Infantry Regiment. But he lives outside the camp. She neglected the military’s warning of land mine around the regiment to defend attacks of local resistant forces,” said a local.
