Mawlamyine, 9 May


Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun, Permanent Representative of Myanmar to the United Nations, was named 14th recipient of the “Citizen of Burma Award” on May 6, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the National Unity Government.


His leading role in civil disobedient movement of civil services staff in Myanmar’s Spring Revolution against the coup was made to confer the award on him.


The awards ceremony will be held at Performing Arts Center of Baldwin Park, 4640 Maine Ave, Baldwin Park, CA 91706 in the United States on 21 May.


At the event, humanitarian assistance will be given to internally displaced persons in Myanmar.


The award was given by Myanmar community abroad in honor of individuals or organizations that worked for the benefit of Myanmar society.


U Kyaw Thu, the founder of Myanmar Free Funeral Services Society, was the first recipient of this award.
