On the morning of June 30, the military council warned people not to go outside in Khaw Zar
town of Ye township, raising concerns among the people, locals told Than Lwin Times.
Starting at 10 a.m. yesterday, troops from Infantry Battalion 31 drove throughout the city,
shouting using hand speakers to warn residents not to go out and farm workers to return home.
People are concerned about whether there will be a battle, a test firing of massive weapons, or
an invasion of the town as a result of the military’s rare warning.
Yesterday morning, the students of military families did not show up for school.
After the junta warning, students from Mon and Burmese schools returned to their homes, some
shops were closed, and streets in towns and villages were almost deserted.
On June 16, a large weapon fired by Infantry Battalion 31 landed in Kyauk Ai village in Khaw
Zar town, killing a woman on the spot.
