Thanbyuzayet, 13 August

Police arrested 145 Rohingya in dump trucks near Wekhami village and Ywar Tharyar village in Mon State’s Thanbyuzayet Township on 11 August morning, sources close to the matter told Than Lwin Times.

After receiving information that Rohingya were in four trucks heading to Thanbyuzayet from Ye, junta troops, police, and administrative officials waited and arrested them.

A total of 145 Rohingyas—127 men and 18 women—have been detained, and they are being interrogated at the township stadium in Set Thit Ward, Thanbyuzayet.

The Rohingya arrested were those who fled the refugee camp in Bangladesh by boat, said a source close to the police force.

On August 7, a boat carrying 55 Rohingya bound for Malaysia sank off the Sittwe in Rakhine State, and the bodies of 17 Rohingya have been discovered so far.

In June, six Rohingya were arrested at the Mayan Chaung checkpoint in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township.
