A village administrator was shot dead between Kawt Khalain and Kyar Inn Chaung villages in Kyaikmaro Township, Mon State, 20 August evening, locals told Than Lwin Times.

U Zaw Min, the 45-year-old administrator of Kawt Khalain village, was shot from behind by unknown gunmen when he was returning by car from Kawt Khalain village to Kya Inn Chaung village.

Administrator U Zaw Min was shot twice in the right shoulder and back shoulder and is being treated at Mawlamyine Hospital.

But U Zaw Min’s wife, who was with him in the incident, was not harmed, the locals said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Following the military coup, fighting has been raging on between the junta army and allied resistance forces, with both sides suffering heavy casualties.
