Demoso, 27 August
The junta army is to blame for the havoc brought to the country following the military coup by force of arms, democratic and revolutionary forces told Than Lwin Times.
The military regime often blames the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) for the attacks that happened in the country.
At the recent ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Combating Transnational Crime, the Chief Minister of Ministry of Home Affairs, Lt. Gen. Ya Pyae alleged that PDFs organized under various names in Myanmar are carrying out acts of violence.
According to the minister, the PDFs killed innocent people, including monks and nuns, and damaged health facilities, roads, bridges, electricity, and communication towers and buildings.
Regarding the military council’s allegations, a spokesperson of Demoso PDF in Karenni State told The Than Lwin Times, “The junta army is destroying public housing while using churches and schools as cover on the ground”.
Following the military coup, local defense forces, including the Karenni Nationalities Progressive Party (KNPP), a powerful ethnic armed organization, took up arms against the military council in the resistance stronghold of Karenni State.
Meanwhile, the junta army has widely used massive offensives, artillery shelling, and airstrikes in the two and a half years since the coup, military, political, and human rights violations have been increasing in Karenni State.
The Progressive Karenni People Force (PKPF) reported on August 1 that 375 civilians were killed, including 141 who died while fleeing the conflict, and 572 airstrikes destroyed more than 1,670 buildings and homes.
U Banyar, director of Karenni Human Rights Group (KHRG) told Than Lwin Times that “all the violence that has occurred in the country is a consequence of the military coup. We can definitely say that the main culprits are the army, the military council, and junta chief Min Aung Hlaing”.
Lt. Gen. Pyae added at the meeting, citing the Global Terrorism Index report, that the use of unmanned drones by terrorist groups has become a challenge for the future.
The spokesperson of the Kyaikto Revolutionary Force (KRF) said “The only thing I want to ask is whether or not these kinds of things happened before Min Aung Hlaing took power. The military council did not have the courage to declare a coup and lied that they had taken control of the state power. They should be brave and take responsibility for their actions”.
The military council that arrested the country’s leaders on the grounds of voter fraud in the election also opened fire on peaceful protestors and arrested and imprisoned some of them.
Therefore, democracy activists and innocent people have inevitably chosen the armed path and are fighting to eradicate the military dictatorship.
The military council, including the armed resistance forces, is working in every way to disunite innocent civilians and those who support them, according to anti-regime forces.
At present, troops have been deployed across the country at the front line amid international sanctions, and the eradication of the military dictatorship by pro-democracy people who are fighting against the junta army by any means is still going strong.
ISP Myanmar, a research group, released on August 18 that more than 10,000 armed clashes broke out throughout the country during the two and a half years of the coup.
