Yebyu, 20 September
Two members of regime troops were shot and killed by snipers’ bullets in the attack on a military checkpoint stationed near a Standing Buddha Statue in Tanintharyi Region’s Yebyu Township, according to the local resistance forces.
The allied resistance forces attacked the Yebyu checkpoint where more than 30 military personnel were stationed using snipers around 11 a.m. on 18 September.
According to a spokesperson from the Dawei People’s Defense Force, two junta soldiers were killed on the spot after being shot by three snipers.
The resistance fighters retreated without harm after the sniper attack, although regime forces fired back with small arms and mortar shells.
According to local residents, the bodies of the two regime troops were taken away in the evening.
The attack was carried out jointly by Division 3 of the Dawei Defense Team (DDT), Air Force (Yebyu), and the Red Dragon Guerrilla Force.
On August 29, three soldiers were killed and four others were injured in the attack on a military camp near the Standing Buddha Statue.
