Kawthaung, 26 November
The military column was ambushed near Sae Eain Su-Maliwan village in Tanintharyi Region’s Kawthaung, killing three regime forces, said the local defense force.
A military column of around 50 troops from Khamaukgyi-based No. 288 Infantry Battalion was caught in a surprise attack while they advanced towards Maliwan village via a waterway.
The attack led to a firefight between the two sides for nearly 15 minutes, after which the revolutionary forces retreated unharmed.
The fighting claimed three regime troops, and the exact number of casualties is being investigated, said a member of Kawthaug-PDF.
A military officer was seriously injured in the attack, according to military sources, and was transported by helicopter.
The Kawthaung-PDF warned the public to be extra cautious as the military council may escalate the fighting after being ambushed.
On September 20, two junta soldiers were killed when they struck a landmine while invading Maliwan village.
