Kyaikto, 5 December
Three military personnel, including an officer, were killed in the attack on a checkpoint near a crossroad of Sittaug Bridge in Moppalin village in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township, said resistance forces.
At around 11:00 a.m. on December 3, the Moppalin checkpoint, where more than 30 soldiers and policemen were stationed, was attacked by the revolutionary joint forces using heavy weapons and drones.
The Kyaikto Revolutionary Force (KRF) said that it used eight 80-mm shells, a 60-mm mortar shell for the drone attack, and twenty rounds of 40-mm shells in the attack.
The attack killed a military officer, a sergeant, and a private, and two other regime troops sustained serious injuries, said an official of the KRF.
Meanwhile, a rural clinic, a monastery, and four houses in Khaywe village were destroyed by the shelling of a regime unit stationed at Latpan village in Kyaikto and another unit at upper Kwaygyi village in Waw Townshp, said locals.
The attack was jointly carried out by the KNU/KNLA 7805 battalion, Company 2 (Thway Thitsar Guerilla Force), YEF TPDF Drone Force, the Ravens Column, the All Burma Students’ Democratic Front, Kyaik PDF, and the Kyaik Revolutionary Force (KRF).
The Moppalin checkpoint was attacked at least seven times during the coup, with the junta suffering heavy losses.
The military council has increased security in the resistance stronghold of Kyaikdo due to a possible attack by revolutionary forces, and the base battalions are firing heavy weapons into surrounding areas day and night.
