The mortar shell fired from Theinzayat police station in Mon State’s Kyaikto left two children injured and destroyed a house, according to the report released by the KNU-Thaton District on November 30.
U Kyaw Tint’s son, 8-year-old Maung Myint Myat, and his nephew, 8-year-old Maung Thantzin, were injured in the explosion.
It is reported that Maung Thant Zin, who was seriously injured, is being treated at Bago Township Public Hospital, while Maung Myint Myat, who suffered non-critical injuries, is being treated at Theinzayat Hospital.
On November 30, the combined force of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) attacked the police station with heavy weapons, and then the police station fired back at the KNLA forces, the chairman of the KNU’s Alliance Supervisory Committee, Colonel Saw Kyaw Myint, said.
Investigations are still underway to determine whether any junta soldiers were injured in the attack by the KNLA joint forces.
The military council police station in Theinzayat was targeted at least four times following the military takeover.
