Kawkayeik, January (17)
The combined force of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) raided and set fire to the Kawbein police outpost in Karen State’s Kawkayei Township in the afternoon of January 16, the locals confirmed to Than Lwin Times.
The Kawbein police station, which houses roughly 20 police officers, was raided by the KNLA joint force at 1:30 in the afternoon.
During the raid on the Kawbein police station, the policemen ran away, and KNLA joint forces burned down the detention camps, the residence of the police chief, and other buildings.
After destroying the police station, the KNLA clashed with the Border Guard Force (BGF) near Kawton village.
Two civilians were reportedly injured in the battle, but Than Lwin Times is still investigating the details of the incident.
The battleground for the KNLA joint force and the junta-backed BGF was one mile from the New Mon State Party’s headquarters in Thaton District.
