The Karen Human Rights Organization (KHRG) stated on May 26 that there is an urgent need to provide food supplies and shelter to locals escaping the military council’s air assaults in the Mawkhee region of KNU Brigade 6.
The junta aircraft bombarded the village of Panwe Phoe Kalow, Mokhi village, in the territory of KNU Brigade 6, Dooplaya District at midnight on May 23, destroying one Christian church, one boarding school, and two houses.
Although no local villagers were injured in the airstrikes, more than 200 villagers have been displaced and are in need of emergency aid, including food and shelter, according to the KHRG.
The military council’s air attack has completely destroyed Htee Kala Pae Christian Church, Maekanei Christian Church, and Panwe Phoe Kalow Christian Church in KNU Brigade 6 this year.
According to the information team of KNU Doopalaya District, the junta carried out at least 30 airstrikes in April alone, which damaged more than 400 buildings, including monasteries, hospitals, schools, homes, and Christian churches.
More than 23,000 people displaced by the junta military activities and human rights violations targeting civilians in the area of Brigade 6 have not been able to return to their homes.
