Myeik April (29)

Ko Soe Thet Htut, a former leader of the Myeik Technological University Students’ Union in Tanintharyi Region, was detained and charged under Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code by the military junta.


Myeik Technological University Students’ Union said that former student leader Soe Thet Htut was arrested on April 25 at his house in Kan Khaungk ward Myeik Township and taken by members of the military council for questioning.


He was arrested under Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code after being questioned by the military council.


Ko Soe Thet Htut is currently being held in Myeik prison and is scheduled to appear in court in early May, according to sources who close to his family.


More searches are being conducted by military council in Myeik these days, and at least ten activists were arrested in April.
