Three people, including administrator, shot in Yebyu’s Kanpauk

A group of armed men gunned down three people, including a junta-appointed administrator, in Kanpauk, Tanintharyi Region’s Yebyu on January 25, killing one and injuring two others.

The gunmen shot U Aye Han, the leader of the Pyu Saw Htee militia group and former administrator, in his yard at Zadi village in Kanpauk district around 10 am yesterday, and he died on the spot from four gunshot wounds.

Meanwhile, Kanpauk administrator U Khin Soe and his assistant, U Hla Htay were shot by the gunmen at his house around 11 am.

Both received serious gunshot wounds and were rushed by emergency ambulance to Kanpauk Hospital.

According to locals, the administrator who was assassinated was the one who claimed that he was not afraid of the People’s Defense Force (PDF).

Two military helicopters patrolled the region after the administrator and the Pyu Saw Htee members were shot.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the shooting.

Ko Lin Lin Tun, a reporter for the military-run Myawaddy newspaper, was shot and killed by Spring Dhamma PDF (KLA) combined troops on January 24 in Kalain Aung Town, Yebyu Township because he was a military informant.
