Mawlamyine, March (18)

The Southeastern Command of the military council based in Mawlamyine, Mon State, was attacked by a drone at night March 16, the military sources told Than Lwin Times.

The Southeastern Command, which has strict security and multiple anti-drone systems, was attacked around 10 p.m. by three drone-borne bombs.

No one was reportedly injured in the incident, although a building was destroyed.

The building that houses the helicopters at the Southeastern Command was targeted, but the source said no damage was reported because the drone interceptor system was installed there.

A resident who lives near the Southeastern Command said that no gunshots were heard after the explosion in the compound, but security was tight yesterday and the junta forces were busy.

This is the first time that the Southeastern Command has been attacked, and it has not yet been revealed which organization carried out the attack.

The Mawlamyine-based military council’s Southeastern Command oversees the security, defense, and military affairs of Mon and Karen States.
