Mawlamyine, 4 May

A female freelance reporter of Mizzima Media was among the inmates released in amnesty order on 3 May which coincided with the Buddha Day or Kason Full-moon Day, said sources close to her family to Than Lwin Times.

Ma Mable was sentenced to three years and hard labour in prison with the Penal Code section 505-A after she was arrested while covering news in Yangon in February 2022.

“The release of Ma Mable was confirmed. Her health is not good,” a source close to her family said.

After she was sentenced at the special court in Insein township in July last year, she was transferred to Tharyarwadi prison.
More than 150 reporters were arrested after coup in Myanmar, and four of them were killed.

The junta issued an amnesty order on the release of 2,153 political prisoners to commemorate Kason full-moon day.
