Cyclone Mocha forecast to land in Kyaukphyu at windspeed 90m per hour

Very severe cyclonic storm MOCHA got stronger on 12 May morning, and it is forecast to pass
through on 14 May afternoon, according to Myanmar’s Department of Metrology and Hydrology.
While international metrology agencies have categorized Cyclone MOCHA as red colour,
Myanmar’s DMH at pink colour.


The small storm started in southeast of Bay of Bengal moved to northwest, and it got stronger
into Cyclonic Storm MOCHA.

It centered at about 365 nautical miles west-southwest of Coco Island and at 475 nautical miles

west-southwest of Hainggyigyun Township.

Moreover, it centered at the sea about 615 nautical miles south-northwest of Sittway, about 415
miles west-northwest of Nikobar island in India, about 280 nautical miles west-southwest of Port
Blair (India) and about 665 nautical milies south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh.


Cyclone MOCHA will turn into a very severe cyclone in the Bay of Bengal on 12 May. It is also
forecast that Cyclonic Storm MOCHA will pass through Cox’s Bazar (Bangladesh) and
Kyaukphyu township (Myanmar) before entering south-east of Bangladesh and northern coast
of Rakhine.


Commencing 15 May, the cyclone will cause scattered rains in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay,
Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawaddy, Tanintharyi, Kachin, Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin
and Kon.


Meanwhile , torrential rain is forecast in some areas of lower Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway,
Yangon, Ayeyawady, Chin and Rakhine, as well as in some areas of Nay Pyi Taw, upper areas
of Sagaing, Bago, Kachin, Shan, Taningharyi and Mon.
