Two civilians were injured by landmine explosions in Mon State’s Ye and Thaton Townships, locals and the social rescue team told Than Lwin Times.
On June 6, at 11:00 a.m., two local men on a motorcycle struck the landmines on the Yangon-Mawlamyaing road near Kali Kyung village of Kamar Sai village tract in Thaton.
U Khaing Tun from Kali Kyung village was reportedly injured by shrapnel in his abdomen and was taken to Thein Seik District Hospital.
Meanwhile, a local farmer stepped on a landmine near Kyotadar Creek in Baekalwe village, Lamai town of Ye, around 11 a.m. on June 5.
Similarly, 24-year-old Min Chan Mon from Mawkanin village was taken to Mawlamyaing Hospital after stepping on a landmine and injuring his right ankle.
In May, two people were killed and at least six were injured due to landmine explosions and gunfire in Mon State.
