A man was seriously injured when he stepped on a landmine near Chan Myae village in Hngat Pyaw Taw village tract in Kyaikto township, Mon State, according to the report released by KNU-Thaton on 7 September.

U Aung Htan, 43, of Khet Tai Village, Daik-U Township, Bago Region, was working as a hired laborer in the Hngat Pyaw Taw Village when he was wounded by a landmine on 29 August.

U Aung Htan received serious injuries to both legs in the explosion and was rushed to Thaton District Hospital, according to the statement.

U Aung Htan was hit by a landmine planted by Infantry Battalion 8 Division 44 based in Kyaikto, according to the KNU-Thaton.

On 13 July, a 13-year-old boy died on the spot in a mine blast near War Dat Kwin Villag in Theinzayet Township, said the KNU.
