A military intelligence informant was shot and killed on the Paung-Thaton inter-district tract near Ohn Tapin Village in Mon State’s Paung Township, locals confirmed to Than Lwin Times.

The unknown gunmen shot 53-year-old U Win Zaw (aka Jacob), an informant for the officials of the Military Security Affairs, as he drove alone from Moke Ta Ma to Ohn Tapin Village.

U Win Zaw (aka Jacob) received two bullet wounds to the head and died on the spot.

According to local residents of Paung, the deceased U Win Zaw was notorious in the region for collecting money for police and military intelligence officials and for his abusive behavior towards the people.

According to the local residents, after the military intelligence informant U Win Zaw was killed, the regime troops arrived and took the body to the public hospital in Paung Township.

On 3 September, Ko Ko Lwin, a surveillance police officer from the Paung police station, was shot and killed on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway near the Moe Nai neighborhood of Paung.

Policemen and informants have been frequently assassinated in Paung Township in September, so the regime troops raid Ottan Tar and Yin Nyein villages and arrest residents.
