Rakhine-based Development Media Group issued a statement to strongly condemn the military council for the arrest of its reporter and a security guard after raiding the office in Sittway on 29 October afternoon.
The statement of DMG said that the junta’s police, Bureau of Special Investigation, Special Branch and 20 soldiers raided the office and they also seized a camera and computers. The office was then sealed.
The reporter and the security guard are being kept, and it remains unknown charges against them.
After the military coup, the military revoked license of publishing houses and 15 media outlets including DVB, Mizzima, Myanmar Now, Khit Thit Media and Ayeyarwaddy Times.
The military also arrested 156 journalists, but 105 have been released and nearly 50 remain under arrests, according to the reports of independent organizations.
