The bomb explosion at Koe Na Win pagoda festival in Kawtkame village, Yun Daling Kon village tract of Mon State’s Belin Township killed one civilian and injured four others, locals confirmed to Than Lwin Times.

The blast occurred near the motorcycle parking gate in the festival’s gambling ring around 9 p.m. on 21 December.

The explosion killed 17-year-old Ko Okkar Kyaw from Pauk Taw village on the spot, while local residents U Kyaw Min Htike, U Thu Lin, U Thaike Soe, and U Aung Sein Thant were injured by shrapnel.

According to local residents, four injured residents were sent to Belin Public Hospital, and two of them are in critical condition.

Military lobbyists spread propaganda, saying the attack was carried out by the People’s Defense Forces, but Ko Aye Min Tun, spokesperson of the PDF-Thaton District denied the claim.

The junta-appointed administrative body and military informants organized the festival, which included traditional dance troupe, for alleged village fund, and gambling with the permission of the military council.

DJ Moon called La Pyae Kabyar performed at the festival, which had been held on December 16, but the event was canceled due to a bomb blast.
