Beginning February 8, the Military Council has set a curfew from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am in Ye Township, Mon State, which has declared martial law, said the locals.
The curfew hours were extended on February 2 after the military council imposed martial law in 37 townships nationwide, including Ye township.
According to Section 144, it is prohibited to go around carrying sticks, knives and weapons, gatherings of more than five people, and public speaking event between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM in Ye Township and effective action will be taken if it is not followed.
The residents have difficulties in terms of their economy, health, and travel because of the extension of the night curfew.
Additionally, it will be harder for the locals to make a living, and if health issue arise at night, the curfew will be so risky that individuals could lose their lives.
For several months, Ye Township has set a curfew from 8 pm to 4 am.
After the military coup, military council’s camps and departments in Mon State’s Ye Township were frequently attacked, and some villages were controlled by the People’s Defense Forces.
