According to a source close to the court, Mon State Prime Minister Dr Aye Zan appeared in court on April 5 to face charges of electoral abuse of power.

The election charges filed by the military regime against Mon State Prime Minister Dr Aye Zan were heard in Mawlamyine Township Court.

The military council has charged Prime Minister Dr Aye Zan with three counts of abuse of power in elections under Sections 130 (a) and 171 (f) of the Penal Code.



Prime Minister Dr Aye Zan has pleaded not guilty to the allegations, despite the fact that he has already been convicted in three electoral cases.

Prime Minister Dr. Aye Zan is currently facing a total of 12 charges, including nine counts of corruption.

Mon State Prime Minister Dr Aye Zan was sentenced to two years in prison on December 17 last year under Section 505 (b) of the Criminal Code for inciting staff to join the CDM movement.
