The regime invaded Pakukku Township in Magway Region and burned down nearly 100 houses in two days, according to the People’s Administration Team-Pakokku.
On January 30 and 31, the advanced military troops set fire to houses in Kandaw and Sarkyin villages in Pakokku township.
Nearly 70 houses in Kandaw village and about 30 houses were destroyed in Sarkyin village in arson attacks.
The regime troops invaded the communities and set fire to the homes, forcing more than 2,000 locals to flee.
The Township People’s Administration Team has called on people and revolutionary forces to assist and care for the homeless residents.
During the two years of the military coup, roughly 16 villages in Pakokku Township were destroyed by fire.
According to ISP-Myanmar, nearly 20,000 homes and buildings, including religious buildings, were burned down in the midst of armed conflict and fighting throughout the country between November last year and January 15 this year.
