On March 4, the couple were shot and robbed of a motorcycle and a gold chain at Kyaikminwa in Thaung Pyin beach in Mon State’s Ye Township, where martial law had been put in place, the residents confirmed to Than Lwin Times.

A couple in their twenties riding a motorcycle on Kyaiminwa Beach was shot at by two men on a motorcycle who were following them when they refused to stop when they told them to.

After shooting at the couple, the two gunmen snatched the man’s gold chain and motorcycle and drove away.

The woman suffered a gunshot wound on the left side of her abdomen and is being treated at Mawlamyine Public Hospital.

The victim of the gunshot wound is currently conscious and receiving treatment in the intensive care unit, the rescue workers said.

Motorcycles were frequently robbed in Ye Township, Mon State, after the military coup, and this is the first incident in which a person was shot and a motorcycle was robbed.
