Kyaikto, March (18)

A rubber farm worker was wounded in an artillery blast fired by the junta into Zeepyaung village in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township, according to the KNU’s Allied Supervisory Committee.

The joint force of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) launched an offensive attack on the junta unit stationed near Latpanpin cemetery in Kyaikto’s Ingabo village around 4 pm on March 16.

After the attack, the Theinzayat-based LIB 207 and Kyaikto-based 310th artillery regiment fired at least five mortar rounds into Zeepyaung village.

The mortar shell fired by the junta exploded in a rubber farm, injuring a worker, said the chairman of KNU’s Allied Supervisory Committee.

The number of casualties in the attack on junta forces stationed near Latpanpin cemetery is still being investigated.

Because military convoys are frequently attacked by mines, the 30-strong force in Ingbo village dug trenches and built bunkers late in 2022.
