At least 10 junta soldiers reportedly sustained injuries when a military convoy hit a landmine close to Nanpayoke village in Palaw Township, Tanintharyi Region in the morning of on May 24, an information official of Myeik Battalion 1 told Than Lwin Times.
At around 6:00 a.m. that day, the combined force of resistance forces detonated six landmines to attack two military vehicles carrying more than 50 personnel from the Advanced Military Basic Air Force Training School in Palauk Township.
The information officer of the 1st Battalion of Myeik District said that after receiving information that the regime troops were heading to Palauk Township, they took the initiative and launched a mine attack.
After being hit by landmines, the regime troops fired small arms, including 40-mm mortar shells, on places where local defense groups were believed to be, but the revolutionary groups were able to retreat without any harm.
On May 11, a military vehicle struck a landmine, and five people, including one officer, were injured between Htamin Masar and Nanpayoke villages in Palaw Township.
The military convoys have been frequently attacked with mines in Palaw Township, where martial law has been imposed, during the two years since the military coup, with the junta troops suffering heavy losses.
