Thanbyuzayat, May (25)

The tornado destroyed 21 homes in Rathedaung village of Setse village tract in Mon State’s Thanbyuzayat on the morning of May 24, the locals said.

It began to rain around 5:30 a.m., and a tornado struck, collapsing houses, bringing down trees and power lines, and ripping off the roofs.

Despite houses collapsing and being destroyed, no one sustained injuries, a local told The Than Lwin Times.

A total of two dwellings collapsed, and 19 homes had their roofs lifted off by the tornado, costing hundreds of thousands of kyats.

After the tornado affected over 80 people from 25 households, they were relocated to nearby homes and relatives’ houses.

Cleanup efforts and debris removal are carried out by the fire department, social rescue teams, and locals in Rathedaung.

A jetty bridge in Nat Maw village of Chaungson Township collapsed at 10:00 p.m. on May 23 as a result of a strong wind.
