Myeik, June (18)

The brother of a Hluttaw representative and member of the National League for Democracy (NLD) in Tanintharyi Region’s Myeik Township died in an interrogation center after being arrested, sources close to family members told Than Lwin Times.

On June 16, the police informed the family that 52-year-old U Tin Than Oo, the brother of NLD MP, U Min Zaw Tint, died during interrogation.

On June 6, regime troops and the police arrested U Tin Than Oo from Naukle Ward in Myeik for questioning, and his family was informed ten days later that he had died.

But the military council has not returned U Tin Than Oo’s body to the family, said a person close to the family.

U Tin Than Oo was killed and accused of supplying food to the People’s Defense Forces and sending messages about the military council to the PDFs.

Amoytha Hluttaw Representative U Min Zaw Tint, who won the 2020 general election, was on the run because he was being charged under various sections after the military coup.

On June 13, the National League for Democracy (NLD) announced that nearly 4,000 civilians have been killed, including more than 90 NLD members, in Myanmar during the two years since the military coup.
