Tanintharyi, July (20)
There have been ongoing battles between the junta army and the revolutionary forces in Tanintharyi Township, where martial law has been declared, the officials of the resistance forces told Than Lwin Times.
Since July 15, a military column of over 150 soldiers has entered Tanintharyi Township, resulting in daily clashes.
According to the resistance fighters, at least ten clashes occurred in four days, from July 15 to July 18, with ten soldiers killed.
Fighting has now spread to the villages of Thein Khun, Thaebyu, and Chaung Hna Puak, and the military council is strengthening its troops.
The regime troops are stationed near Kunthee Taw village beside Mawtaung Road in Tanintharyi Township and are firing artillery shells into the villages.
As a result of the fighting, over 1,000 residents from five villages, including Thein Khun, Thaebyu, and Chaung Hna Pauk, have fled to safety.
In late March and early April, a 14-day of fighting broke out between the junta army and the resistance forces in the villages along the Tanintharyi-Mawtaung road, with losses on both sides.
