Four civilians were injured and some houses damaged by artillery shells fired by the junta army into the KNU’s Nyaunglaybin District, according to the Karen National Union.

A local house in Ngamyitchin village was damaged when six heavy weapons were fired by the Light Infantry Battalion 439 based in Mone Township around 11:00 p.m. on 25 August, according to the statement.

At around 9:00 a.m. that day, Infantry Battalion 264 of the KNU Shwe Jing Township, stationed at Painzalote, fired heavy weapons into Chon Inn village, damaging a house and the KNU is still investigating whether there was any damage in the explosion in Wan Chaing village.

Meanwhile, four local residents were wounded, and five houses, one wooden hut, and one haystack were damaged, and a cow was injured in mortar shelling by junta into Kyokyi village under KNU-controlled Kyaukkyi Township on 26 August.

Tens of thousands of local people were fleeing as civilians were injured or killed due to the military council’s artillery fire and airstrikes targeting the civilians in KUN Brigade 3, Nyaunglaybin Distirct, said the KNU.
