Pangsang, 3 November

Unbiased position of the Wa and Mong La ethnic armed groups on Operation 1027 of the Brotherhood Alliance, which could lead to the collapse of the junta army, indirectly supports the conflict, said political analysts.

The United Wa State Army (UWSA) and the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA) issued a statement on November 1 that they would not take sides or intervene in the fighting in Northern Shan State.

The UWSA will unconditionally protect the security of the area and people’s lives and homes in Wa State, and will provide free accommodation and humanitarian assistance to the displaced people who took refuge in Wa State, according to the statement.

An analyst said, “They are not on either side, but in other words, they support the movements of these revolutionary forces.”

The UWSA urged the relevant groups to discuss ceasefire talks and warned that they would retaliate against the army and air force that invaded the area.

According to military and political analysts, the UWSA has given advance notice that it will counterattack and participate in the operation if the military council conducts airstrikes on its region.

The NDAA also announced that it will build a prosperous social environment that is harmonious for all ethnic groups in the border region and will continue to maintain it for the sake of stability and peace in the region.

The United Wa State Army (UWSA) and the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA), a powerful ethnic armed organization, attended the peace talks invited by military leader General Min Aung Hlaing, either individually or as a group, at least five times.

On the other hand, the Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee (FPNCC) led by “Wa” includes seven northern ethnic armed groups, including the Brotherhood Alliance, and has good relations with neighboring China.

Dr. Hla Kyaw Zaw, an analyst of the China-Myanmar issue, said, “The northern groups have good relations with China, so they can request what they want from the military council through China, and they can discuss the stability of the situation.”

The Operation 1027 of the Brotherhood Alliance, which received the support of the people who opposed the military dictatorship and the revolutionary forces, seized nearly 90 junta bases and outposts within six days.

General Zaw Min Tun, the spokesperson of the military council, admitted on November 2 that Chin Shwe Haw, Hpawnghseng and Kyugok had been relinquished since the beginning of Operation 1027.

The Brotherhood Alliance called on the revolutionary forces to launch simultaneous attacks on regime bases along with Operation 1027 in order to overthrow the military dictatorship.
