The battles between the junta army and allied resistance forces have forced thousands of residents to flee to Kyunsu Town in Tanintharyi Region, according to the displaced people.
The clash broke out when the combined forces of the 60-strong regime column and its affiliated militia, Pyu Saw Htee, invaded Mingote and Maung Hlaw villages since November 13.
Around 1000 people fled the battles in Mingote, Maugn Hlaw, Pyin Wun, and War Yit villages, seeking refuge in places such as Myeik and Kyunsu.
Most displaced people arrived in Myeik and Kyunsu towns via waterways, but they are having difficulty finding accommodation and food, according to a refugee.
The battle claimed one militia group, Pyu Saw Htee, while some junta soldiers sustained injuries, said resistance forces.
The fighting did not resume until the evening of November 14, but the junta forces remained in the village, causing tension between the two sides.
In the last week of October, the attack on a camp of Pyu Saw Htee militia in Kyunsu killed some junta troops.
More than 10,000 local residents have been forced to flee the conflict, with 34 clashes taking place in Tanintharyi in October, research data shows.
