Palaw, 10 September
One resident was killed and four others were injured when the junta navy fired heavy weapons into Latku village in Tanintharyi Region’s Palaw Township, said resistance fighters.
On September 9, around 10:00 a.m., a warship of the military council docked at Palaw Creek fired heavy weapons into the villages of Latku, Mya Daung, and Pyin Phyu when there was no fighting.
The shells fired by the navy exploded inside and outside Latku village.
A 25-year-old resident, Ko Myat Phyo Wai, died on the spot, and four others, including a four-year-old child, were injured in the attack.
According to the locals, the residents are preparing to flee their homes in fear of the heavy weapons of the military council.
On September 7, a battle broke out between the junta navy and the Local Defense Force in the sea near Myin Auk Kyun, outside Kyauk Kar village in Palaw Township.
In August, 76-year-old Daw Than Kyi was killed by the shrapnel of artillery shell fired by regime troops in Latku village.
