Mawlamyine, April (15)

A bomb exploded near the pavilion of the junta’s construction department in Dawei, Tanintharyi Region, on the morning of the second day of Thingyan, April 14, according to locals.

The blast caused no injuries, but the military supporters who were enjoying the Water Festival ran away in fear.

Following the explosion, the junta troops cordoned off the area and some roads were blocked and searched.



No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
A central pavilion was built by the military council in front of the regional office, and another built by the construction department.

On Thingyan A-Kya Day, there was no one who took part in the water festivals. However, there were several performances as well as military supporters throwing water at one another.

Dawei revolutionary forces have warned people not to participate in the Thingyan Festival held by junta or to go near their venues.
